Crazy New Year's Eve fireworks on the island of Aruba. This was filmed from our 6th floor room at the Renaissance hotel in Oranjestad. We were told that the average family spends $250 on fireworks for the New Year's celebration. I wouldn't doubt that figure, because it seemed that that from 11:30pm on, every man, woman and child on the island was setting off fireworks. The scene reminded me of the video footage from the early hours of Gulf War 1, where anti aircraft fire lit up the skies of Bagdad. In my Aruba video, if you turn up the volume, you can hear how deafening the fireworks were. You can also see tiny specs off in the distance which are small scale fireworks marking the entire coastline of the Eastern half of Aruba!Tags:FireworksCaribbeanArubaNewYearsEveBagdad
