Valvetronic replaces the function of the throttle butterfly with continuously variable valve lift control, to enable the engine to breathe more easily. An electric motor controlled by the accelerator pedal turns an eccentric shaft, which transmits the rotation of the cams to the valves via a connecting lever. Controlling the position of the eccentric shaft controls the ideal valve lift.
